Fashion Recommendation System

Overview

Developed a content-based recommendation system to suggest visually similar fashion items using deep learning.

Methodology

• Feature Extraction: VGG16 pretrained on ImageNet to extract image embeddings.
• Similarity Calculation: Cosine similarity to find nearest neighbors.
• Recommendation Display top 5 similar items using matplotlib.

Results

The system successfully recommends items with similar patterns, colors, and styles. For example, a dark-toned velvet dress retrieves other velvet outfits.

Future Work

• Integrate user preferences for hybrid recommendations.
• Deploy as a web app using Flask/Streamlit.
• Expand dataset to include men’s and kids’ fashion.
